Training Minds Ministry's first Apologetics Conference brought 36 students and 10 parent-coaches from around the country to Monument, Colorado. Coaches Chap Bettis and Joanna Griffith packed three days with both foundational and advanced sessions of learning material, all intended to bring out the best in apologetics competitors.

Wish you were there? You can be with this 10-CD set with Powerpoint slides printed for your learning enjoyment. Apologetic competitors will start their journey of mastering the 100 Apologetics questions, empowering them to give a solid defense for their faith.

In this session, we will orient ourselves to the NCFCA Apologetics category including: speech templates, organizing tips, and strategies for finding content and illustrations that move the hearts of the audience.
Strengthening Your Research and Content (Griffith)
What major philosophies, worldviews, and applicable ideologies relate to Apologetics? How can I best respond to Statement Analysis questions that pose a view contrary to Christianity? How can I present deeper analysis that will make my speech more impactful and distinguish it from other speeches in the room?
Everyday Tools for Success, Pt. 1 (Griffith)
Ok, I have written lots of cards. I have given quite a few speeches. Now what? How can I use sermons at church, interesting quotes, and compelling stories I come across in my speeches? What do I do when I find a good quote for one of my outlines but do not want to redo the whole outline? What are some good ways to practice Apologetics at home or in club?

Tournament Tactics (Griffith)
How should I use prep. time? What if I do if I get a question for which I do not have a card? What are the characteristics of winning speakers? How should I approach my audience? How do I make my speech stand out in the room?
Champion Apologetics Speaking (Bettis, Griffith)
How can I keep developing my Apologetics skills and preparing for tournaments when I go home? How can I use these skills for the rest of my life? How can I use this knowledge to reach unbelievers for Christ?
Closing Session With Extempers (Bettis, Griffith, Herche, Sparks)
Thoughts on the power of good speaking, for good and bad. What is ethical? Discussion of the importance of using these tools for God's glory. Group discussions regarding ethical extemping. Lessons from the sage regarding the inevitable pitfalls of brought by success. How to avoid these pitfalls and still be successful.
